SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically to the means for remote determination of vital functions of a subject. System comprises a marker for application to the subject, configured to change an optical property due to mechanical, physical or chemical manipulation of the marker caused by a physiological process of the subject, a detection unit for detecting radiation from the marker, and an analysis unit for determining the vital sign information of the subject from the detected radiation, wherein the analysis unit is configured to evaluate the detected radiation over time and analyses the radiation from the marker and determines the frequency of respiratory movements by assessing the change in the optical characteristics of the marker over time. Device for use in the system comprises a detection unit for detecting radiation from a marker and an analysis unit for determining vital sign information of the subject from the detected radiation. Marker for use in the system is configured to be applied on the subject. Method of determining vital sign information of a subject comprises steps at which radiation from the marker is detected, and vital sign information of the subject from the detected radiation is determined.
