FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: performing a corneoscleral tunnel cut includes the cut with the diamond knife within the limits of the transparent cornea. The cut length is determined depending on the diameter of an intraocular lens planned for implantation. The cut is made on the tangent to the limbus without the separation of the conjunctiva and with the placement of the tunnel on 2/3 in the cornea and 1/3 in the sclera under the conjunctiva. In such a way the corneoscleral tunnel is formed in the form of a rectangle with the width of 2.5 mm and the depth of 2.0 mm. The extension of the tunnel cut is performed towards the subconjunctival edge. In performing the cut sutures are not applied.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to simplify its implementation, reduce the probability of trauma to tissues, provide a possibility of implantation of intraocular lenses with the diameter of the optic part larger than the tunnel, and reduce the number of cases of postoperative induced astigmatism.
