METHOD FOR EXTRACAPSULAR EXTRACTION OF COMPLICATED CATARACT WITH HIGH-DENSITY LENS NUCLEUS WITH ELASTIC INTRAOCULAR LENS BEING IMPLANTED Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC A61F9/07 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: in order to extract extra-capsular cataract and implant elastic intraocular lens (IOL) cornea paracenteses are performed and mydriatic and viscoelastic agents are introduced into anterior chamber. Frontal continuous circular capsulorhexis is made and lens nucleus hydro-dissection is performed. After that basic operational approach is carried out as tunnel cornea-scleral incision from 6.0 to 9.0 mm long depending on lens nucleus size. In order to facilitate extraction of large lens nucleus incisions 1.0-2.0 mm long are made in two opposite meridians towards lens equator. Lens nucleus being removed, operational approach to be sealed hermetically with sutures. It is followed by washing out of lens masses with bimanual system of phaco-emulsifying irrigation-aspiration through paracenteses.

EFFECT: method enables to decrease complications in number during post-operative period after EEC and to achieve correct qualitative fixation of elastic IOL.
