FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: monitored section of the road surface is probed by electromagnetic waves along the normal line to its surface, the electromagnetic waves reflected from this surface section are received. Sounding is performed by fixed frequency electromagnetic waves, the probing and received electromagnetic waves are mixed, the main phase shift of these waves in absence of the covering layer on the road surface is pre-determined. Then the phase shift of these waves in presence of this layer is determined and by the value of additional phase shift with reference to the main phase shift the state of the road surface is obvious.

EFFECT: higher accuracy.
