FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: monitored section of the road surface is probed with electromagnetic waves excited in a waveguide placed under the controlled surface from one of its end sections that is embedded in the surface layer of the controlled section of the road. One of the characteristics of the standing wave in the waveguide is determined. From the other end section of the waveguide, a surface, identical to the portion of the road surface with reference values of its state corresponding to the absence of a covering layer on the road surface, is probed with electromagnetic waves. As a surface probed from the other end section of the waveguide, a section of the road surface can be used with reference values of its state corresponding to the absence of a covering layer on the road surface, and this end section of the waveguide is built into the surface layer of this section of the road surface.
EFFECT: increase in accuracy and simplification of the process of determining the state of the road surface.
