FIELD: woodworking industry.

SUBSTANCE: photographing the ends of the stack of logs is carried out with a digital device. On the basis of the resulting image a model of the stack of logs is created. The contours of all the ends of the logs are recognised on the image. The template object with the known dimensions is selected from the recognised contours of the ends and the known dimensions of the end of the template log and the dimensions of the received image of the end of this log are compared. Based on the data received the calibration coefficients are calculated, based on which the area of the ends of all the logs is calculated. Then, the orientation of each log in the stack is determined by comparison of the obtained sizes of the ends of the logs, corresponding to the butt and the top. Taking into account the length of the stack the volume of each log is calculated and by summing the volumes of all logs the cubic content of the entire stack is determined.

EFFECT: improvement of the accuracy of measurement results.
