FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: electric-detonation intermittent-cycle jet engine includes a hollow dielectric chamber, in holes of the wall of which and in insulators made from elastic dielectric material there located are two heteropolar electrodes. End faces of electrodes do not project into the inner cavity of the chamber and are located opposite each other or with an offset relative to each other. Electrically conductive liquid contacting the end faces of the electrodes is supplied in a forced manner into the cavity through the inlet. When direct current is supplied to the end faces of the electrodes, an electrical discharge occurs between their end faces, which causes electric detonation of liquid volume in the area of end faces of electrodes. As a result, the specified liquid volume is changed over to a gaseous state, which leads to pressure rise in the cavity. Since other liquid volume of the cavity near the outlet is located at some distance from the occurred electric detonation, then, it is not changed over to the gaseous state and it is ejected with raised pressure from the cavity through the outlet in the form of a liquid jet stream. Besides, an electric intermittent-cycle jet engine is presented, one of the electrodes of which is located along the chamber cavity.
EFFECT: invention allows simplifying the design and improving efficiency of the engine.
