ELECTROMECHANICAL SEPARATION OF IMMISCIBLE FLUIDS AND DISPERSE SYSTEMS Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC B01D17/06

Abstract RU 2557544 C2

FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to separation of immiscible fluids and disperse systems. This process comprises the steps that follow. a) Electric coagulation-repolarisation with the help of Al-anode and Cu-cathode with location of cathode in the area with minimum fluid flow and passage of fluid flow through anode. Then, electric depolarization is performed with the help of Cu-anode and Cu-cathode with cathode location in the area with minimum fluid flow. The main fluid flow follows through anode. Every electrode pair is arranged in separate cases with intercase connector made of electric insulators accompanied by hydrodynamic or hydrostatic separation to fractions. Note here that material of said electrode pairs and their design can be changed with the change in anode-to-cathode areas ratio. b) Electric coagulation-depolarization is controlled by potential difference set at electrode pair and supplied from DC source or pulse current source. Here, major part of the power is used not for electrolysis process initiation but for surface charge repolarisation. c) Electric depolarization is controlled with initial increased in potential difference initiated by DC or pulse current source to magnitudes describing the electrolysis processes. Then, electrode pair is disconnected from power supply and connected to the load corresponding to charge accumulated at electrode pair. All control jobs are performed in fluid flow mode.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of separation of immiscible fluids and disperse systems, power saving and lower material input.
