FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: light source operating based on principles of field and secondary electron emission is made by: cutting glass plates; depositing film and powder coatings on structural elements; preparing and assembling the structural elements; evacuating, degassing and sealing. The source includes: a vacuum-sealed flat packet-housing, a cathode and an anode in the form of an active material coating - electron emitter and phosphor; an electron flux control structure and a gas absorber. The control structure is in the form of a microchannel plate, which is mechanically and electrically tightly connected to the covers of the packet-housing. The cathode, anode, emitter and phosphor coatings are combined and made on the surface of the microcapillaries of the microchannel plate. The phosphor and emitter coating is in the form of a nanopowder discontinuous layer, which is deposited in a process cycle from a common suspension of nanopowders in a volatile liquid after "saturation" of microcapillaries, followed by evaporation by heating with light and simultaneous exposure of the microchannel plate to ultrasound.
EFFECT: high light output and controllability of the radiation spectrum, providing adaptability to standard high-voltage electric mains, simple technique of making the emitting structure of light-emitting diodes and low cost of the products.
