FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: bipolar plate for an alkaline fuel element is made from two thin-sheet metal profiled separators and two metal nickel frames. The claimed method of manufacturing the bipolar plate includes the application on connecting surfaces of components of a layer of a porous finely disperse nickel powder from 10 to 15 mcm thick with the particle size from 0.1 to 0.4 mcm, which after application is sintered to the surfaces at a temperature of 900°C to 1100°C for from 5 to 10 min in a protective atmosphere, as well as filling pores of the sintered layer for 15%-25% with a solution of polysulphone in chloroform by impregnation from 2 to 3 times and following drying after each impregnation at a temperature from 25°C to 100°C. After assemblage the components are gathered in a package by thermo-pressing at a temperature from 250°C to 270°C.
EFFECT: increase of the corrosion stability of the bipolar plate, increase of the work resource of alkaline fuel elements, reduction of production cost.
