FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: verification of the truthfulness of the response of a respondent to external stimuli includes preliminary psychophysiological diagnosis and recording psychophysiological responses with determination of background values. The respondent is exposed to successive short-term visual, audio and tactile stimuli. Changes in psychophysiological responses with respect to background values are recorded. The truthfulness of the response of the respondent to external stimuli is determined based on the changes in psychophysiological responses of the respondent to external stimuli, based on a threshold of physiological factors. A decision on the polygraph testing of the respondent is made in case of truthful response.

EFFECT: method broadens functional and diagnostic capabilities of verifying the truthfulness of the response of a respondent using a polygraph, improves the effectiveness of polygraph tests owing to optimisation thereof, improves the reliability of the results and cuts the duration of testing through psychophysiological and instrument-based detection of psychophysiological features of a person.
