FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a pressure sensitive adhesive, a label having a working surface and said adhesive, as well as tape containing basic material and an adhesive. The adhesive contains a reaction product of (a), (b), (c) and (d). The reaction product contains as (a) about 25 to about 95 pts.wt of at least one monofunctional ester of a monoatomic alcohol and acrylic acid whose homopolymer has Tg lower than 0°C; (b) 0 to about 75 pts.wt of at least one nonpolar ethylenically unsaturated monomer whose homopolymer has solubility not higher than 10.50 and Tg higher than 15°C; (c) about 5 to about 35 pts.wt of at least one polar ethylenically unsaturated monomer with the general structural formula (1); (d) about 0.005 to 1 wt % of a cross-linking agent based on the total weight of the monomers. The label is particularly applied on polyolefin and metal surfaces. When producing tape using the adhesive, the basic material is particularly foam plastic or nonwoven material.
EFFECT: pressure sensitive adhesives adhere to substrates having low surface-tension energy and/or high surface-tension energy.
