FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to multilayer coating produced by vapour plating of at least the portion of substrate surface. Said coating comprises Al-Cr-B-N layers applied by vapour plating. Note here that layers Al-Cr-B-N are combined with Ti-Al-N layers in at least the portion of multilayer coating. Layers Al-Cr-B-N and Ti-Al-N are applied one on another in turns. Depth of Al-Cr-B-N layers exceeds that of Ti-Al-N layers to make residual stress of said multilayer coating is lower than that of single-layer Al-Cr-B-N coating. Preferably, hardness of said multilayer coating exceeds or equals that of single-layer Al-Cr-B-N coating.
EFFECT: lower residual stress, higher hardness, better wear resistance.
