SUBSTANCE: device refers to machines for preparing beverages with an electric drive. The machine comprises a unit of beverage preparation which comprises a first assembly and a second assembly interacting with each other, at that each assembly forms a part of the cooking chamber intended for insertion of a capsule with an ingredient into it. The machine comprises a means of activation, including: an electric motor intended for actuation of the movable assembly for movement between the open and closed positions, and the transmission means intended for transmitting the driving action of the electric motor to the movable assembly; the control means for controlling the driving action of the electric motor, comprising the means for measuring at least one electrical parameter which is electric power consumed by the electric motor, and for comparing the change of the above parameter as a function of time during the transferring the assembly from the open position to the closed position with the set reference value.

EFFECT: greater convenience when loading the capsule is achieved, the safe operation is provided by reduction of risk of injury to the user when using the machine.
