SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mobile communication. A method and a system for reporting additional measurement results are described. The method includes: a base station notifying a terminal on whether the terminal should report an additional measurement result; the terminal ranking a plurality of cells at the current frequency according a predetermined ranking mode in accordance with the notification from the base station and selecting the optimal cell at the current frequency based on the ranking result to report the additional measurement result.
EFFECT: enabling a base station to control reporting of additional measurement results by a terminal, which reduces the probability of the terminal reporting the additional measurement results, thus reducing system overhead.
