FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of biochemistry, in particular to method of identifying presence or absence of locus of resistance to head smut in maize plant, as well as to method of identifying maize plant demonstrating resistance to head smut, wherein method includes identification in maize plant idioplasm, at least, one allele of marker locus, located within chromosomal interval of maize chromosome 2, comprising and flanked by umc1736 and umc2184.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to efficiently identify maize plant demonstrating resistance of head smut.
