FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to removal of contaminants and suspended organic substances from water streams by injecting oxygen dissolved in water into a floatation basin. The method of injecting oxygen includes feeding a flocculant or coagulant (1) into the area of the water stream to be treated to aggregate suspended particles downstream and to form enlarged floccules. The aggregated particles having an enlarged size and density, located downstream of said area of the water stream, are subjected to steps of dissolving and injecting oxygen. Oxygen is fed under pressure through mixers (3) from an apparatus (5) for concentrating oxygen to dissolving apparatus to form a water-oxygen mixture, which is injected into the area (6) of the water stream. The agglomerated material, emerging downstream on the surface and at the banks of the water stream, is removed by scraping from the surface of the water stream. The apparatus (5) for concentrating oxygen are apparatus which use differential pressure, which can separate oxygen from atmospheric air using a molecular sieve with concentration of up to 95%, or apparatus where a vacuum is applied to molecular sieves.

EFFECT: invention reduces the volume of recirculation water and improves the efficiency of using the water-oxygen mixture.
