FIELD: physics, video.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to surveillance systems for monitoring a protected area. The system comprises an automated workstation for an operator and an electro-optical module, which includes a rotary support, a television camera, a thermal imager and a control unit. The control unit includes a controller, a video image adjusting device and a video server. Commands received by the controller are transmitted to the rotary support and the television camera for homing on a given portion of the area, and current zooming parameter values of the television camera are read to control the thermal imager. Based on the obtained parameters, the controller generates a signal for homing the thermal imager and placing its viewing field in a position which enables to display on the monitor of the operator a video image from the thermal imager in the same scale as the video image from the television camera.
EFFECT: high reliability of detecting and recognising objects.
