SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication. A system and a method for transmission of a delivery status of a text message is implemented by means of SIP protocol messages. According to one of the implementation versions, the text message transmission system receives SIP request from a communication network object with package switching. The above SIP request includes a text message. The text message transmission system identifies a text message delivery status to the recipient and shapes a SIP answer that includes a delivery status parameter of the text message. The text message transmission system inserts the identified delivery status of the text message to the above delivery status parameter of the text message and transmits the SIP answer to the object via a communication network with package switching.
EFFECT: improvement of SIP transaction by adding the information on delivery status of a text message.
