FIELD: food industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to food industry. The degradable chewing gum composition contains 5 - 90 wt % of a water-insoluble gum base and 0.1 - 15 wt % of an alternating copolymer of C2-C10 alkene and maleic anhydride. The percentage values are given relative to the total weight of the gum-base compositions. The said chewing gum production method involves mixing of gum bases and of the copolymer in the quantities as specified above and of one or more additional ingredients taken in an amount of 5 - 50 wt %. The ingredients are chosen from among sweetening agents, flavour modulators, flavour intensifiers, flavouring agents, aromatic substances, cooling substances, warming substances, colorants, oral cavity refreshers, oral cavity moisteners, wetting agents, acidifiers, buffering agents, agents causing a tingling sensation, oral cavity care agents, throat care agents, medications, mineral additives, volume-forming agents, antioxidants, preservatives and their combinations.
EFFECT: invention allows to produce chewing gum able to disintegrate under the impact of ambient factors without detriment to the product taste and chewing nature.
