SUBSTANCE: result is achieved by method of rejection of the scarf butt weld in steel pipeline β≈tgβ≈sinβ≈hi/Li≤(m·R2 h/0.9·kn αph·αp·σpr h-1)·δ/6b, where Li is measuring base of scraf, mm; hi is ruler deviation relatively to longitudinal generatrix of the second pipe if deviation base is assumed as leg, hypotenuse of triangle or one of two long sides of sharp isosceles triangle, mm; m, kn are respectively work condition and reliability coefficients as per purpose of examined section of the pipeline, used during strength and deformability calculations; R2 h is rated tensile strength of pipe metal, equal to minimum yield strength, MPa; αph, αp are respectively weld shape coefficient and coefficient of undercut of girth butt weld; ·σpr h is maximum total longitudinal stresses in pipeline, MPa; δ is wall thickness of pipeline, mm; b is width of butt weld, mm.
EFFECT: simplified process of butt scarf measuring and determination of the criterion of scarf allowability slant of the girth butt weld in steel pipelines depending on butt weld parameters and pipeline sections.
