METHOD OF REJECTION OF PIPES WITH CORRUGATIONS (DENTS) AT MAJOR REPAIR OF PIPE LINES Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: erection and operation of main pipe lines; inspection and rejection of selections of pipe lines having corrugations (dents). SUBSTANCE: amount of deformation in circular and longitudinal directions is determined at areas at minimum curvature radius in area of corrugation (dent) and is compared with amount of deformation causing rise of critical brittleness temperature of pipe metal to magnitude of operating temperature of pipe line section being inspected. Corrugations (dents) are considered smooth if deformation at area with minimum curvature radius does not exceed magnitude of deformation causing rise of critical brittleness temperature to magnitude of operating temperature of pipe line section being inspected. EFFECT: possibility of determination of criterion of corrugation (dent) smoothness.
