FIELD: transportation; measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to operation of main pipelines and can be used in the diagnosis of welded joints. Method comprises placing the ruler along a longitudinal generatrix of one pipe, calibrated probe is inserted between the ruler and the second pipe, the transverse dimension of the calibrated probe is taken as the deflection of the ruler relative to the longitudinal generatrix of the other pipe. Slant of the joint is determined by calculating the ratio of the deviation value of the ruler to the distance from the joint to the probe location.
EFFECT: use of the invention provides the simplified process of measuring the slant of annular welded joints of steel pipes.
