FIELD: physics, optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus for disinfection treatment of a fluid medium by exposing the fluid medium to ultraviolet light. The apparatus comprises a reactor (10), having an inner space (11) in which there is a means (20) of emitting ultraviolet light, an inlet (12) for feeding the fluid medium into the inner space (11) and an outlet for releasing the fluid medium from the inner space. The means (20) of emitting light comprises one electrode, wherein the wall (14) surrounding the inner space (11) is configured to operate as an electrode and contains electroconductive material. The apparatus further comprises a means (30), which also contains electroconductive material and is configured to locally increase electroconductivity in the space between the wall (14) of the reactor and the means (20) of emitting light.
EFFECT: improved disinfecting effect of treating with ultraviolet light.
