SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a unit to be used in a zone providing the possibility of passage of fluid medium through it, i.e. gas and/or liquid. Unit for use in the area to allow passage of fluid through it comprises a filter for blocking passage of objects through the zone together with fluid and at least one anti-fouling source for emitting ultraviolet radiation during operation thereof to implement anti-biofouling measures of at least a portion of the filter. Filter has mechanical nature and comprises filter housing equipped with openings, and at least part of filter casing material is transparent for ultraviolet radiation, allowing ultraviolet radiation to pass through filter casing material.

EFFECT: invention provides creation of anti-biofouling measures which are applicable to a filter used in a region to allow passage of a fluid therefrom, which are effective without the need for mandatory mechanical cleaning of the filter.
