FIELD: physics, computer engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to range field tests, particularly for determining the effect of firing conditions on projectile scattering characteristics. The method of determining projectile scattering characteristics includes measuring projectile speeds based on measurement of time intervals when projectiles fly past two spaced-apart proximity sensors; creating a measurement field of the proximity sensors in the form of a two-dimensional laser grid, based on designing the proximity sensors in the form of two perpendicularly arranged lines of emitters and photodetectors; determining flight coordinates of the projectiles based on measurement of the combination of triggered photodetector elements; determining the vibration of the carriage of the artillery mount; determining coordinates of the projectiles hitting the target based on measurement of the triggered elements of the lines of photodetectors; determining mathematical expectation and mean square deviation; recording data on the test results in a memory unit; transmitting the data to a microcomputer; predicting coordinates of the projectiles hitting the target based on measurement of the coordinates of the flight thereof relative to the sensors; determining errors associated with movement of the projectiles relative to the centre of mass based on comparison of coordinates of hits obtained from different sensors; determining the relationship between projectile scattering characteristics and vibration of the carriage and movement of projectiles relative to the centre of mass; displaying the test results. The information computer system for determining projectile scattering characteristics when firing from an artillery-type weapon comprises two spaced-apart proximity sensors, a unit for determining motion parameters of projectiles, a vibration sensor and a unit for monitoring the vibration level, as well as an electronic target, a signal processing unit, a receiving device, an interfacing unit, a microcomputer and a display.

EFFECT: invention improves information value by determining the effect of firing conditions on projectile scattering characteristics.
