FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a silicon dioxide-modified catalyst support. The present method includes: (i) depositing an alkyl silicate of formula Si(OR)4, where R is a C1-C4-alkyl group, on the surface of a porous support material in an amount which enables to obtain silicon dioxide content in the silicon dioxide-modified catalyst support, expressed as Si, in the range of 0.25-15 wt %, (ii) treating the silicon dioxide-modified catalyst support with water to intensify hydrolysis of alkyl silicate on the support which causes cross-linking thereof, thereby increasing its molecular weight and reducing its volatility, (iii) drying the obtained water-treated support and (iv) calcining the dried material to form a silicon dioxide-modified catalyst support. The invention also relates to a method of producing a catalyst from a support obtained using the disclosed method and a method for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of hydrocarbons in the presence of a catalyst obtained using said method. The present invention also relates to a silicon dioxide-modified catalyst support obtained using the disclosed method and to a Fischer-Tropsch catalyst obtained using said method.
EFFECT: disclosed method enables to obtain a catalyst support holding more than 90 wt % silicon dioxide derived from alkyl silicate.
