FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: prostate biopsy is performed by a system for radioactive implants installation into a prostate mounted on a computer tomography table. The patient is placed onto the computer tomography table in the prone position with a gluteal region leaned over a brace placed under patient's pelvis. A needle matrix of the system is fixed to the patient's skin in an intergluteal cleft at an angle of 24 degrees to a plane of the tomography table. A tomography scanner is used to scan the patient's small pelvis. Matrix apertures are aligned with selected points of the prostate, and an in-between distance is measured. A puncture needle of a mechanical biopsy gun is inserted at a preset depth through the respective matrix apertures to sample tissue material from the above points.

EFFECT: method enables simple and accessible prostate visualisation and biopsy by using computer tomography and system for radioactive implants installation into a prostate mounted on the computer tomography table, as well as by placing the patient in a special way, detecting optimum points and depth of biopsy by means of software.
