FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: catalyst - nanodispersed aluminium nickelide powder coated with a catalytically active metal selected from iron, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum or a mixture thereof, is obtained by impregnation thereof with salts of said a catalytically active metals, drying, calcining and modifying with monochromatic electromagnetic radiation in pulsed mode with frequency of 10-30 Hz with specific radiation power of 1.1-1.8 kW/mm2. The catalyst is then heated to 1100-1300°C and then sputtered into a vapour-gas mixture of hydrogen, aromatic compounds, saturated and/or unsaturated hydrocarbons, heated to 500-600°C. The obtained short carbon nanofibres are uniform by length and have a diameter of up to 50 nm.

EFFECT: enabling control of the length of nanofibres with high efficiency owing to continuity of the process.
