FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: 20-cm mid-median laparotomy from an ileocecal valve is performed. A trunk of initial v. mesenterica superior is prepared in a mesentery and held in a tourniquet. A distal portion of the vein is pressed with DeBakey clamps. That is followed by opening a vein wall in the proximal direction; an introducer Fr 10 is inserted into a vein lumen and ligated. A portal vein is catheterised through the inserted introducer in the mesentery. All the catheter and instruments are removed after the manipulations with the portal system are completed. The abdominal cavity is closed.
EFFECT: method enables optimising an approach to the hepatic portal system for porto-caval bypass in hepatic diseases accompanied by hepatic portal hypertension syndrome.
