FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: for protecting seed potato against viruses X and Y a concentrated composition was created, comprising wt %: chitosan with Mw of 30-40 kDa, deacetylation degree of 75-90% - 4-5, succinic acid - 4-5, sodium salicylic-acid - 1-2, benzylaminopurine (6-BAP) - 0.02-0.04, water - the rest. The method of protection of seed potatoes comprises its treatment with the said concentrated composition in the process of original seed production at all stages of propagation of the revitalised plant material, namely when propagation of revitalised plants with micro-grafting in vitro - applied in the Murashige and Skoog medium at a rate of 1-2 ml per 1 litre of the medium; when propagation of mini-tubers and tubers of super-super-elite the preplant treatment is carried out at a flow rate of the preparation of 0.2 l/t in 10 l working solution; when growing plants of the first field generation and super-super-elite they are sprayed during the vegetation period at a flow rate of 0.4 l/ha in 200 litres of the working solution.

EFFECT: concentrated composition and the method are highly effective, less labour intensive, provide the virus-free seed potatoes.
