SUBSTANCE: invention relates to filler for inhibiting foaming, caused by presence of CO₂, which includes particles of a hydrotalcite compound and particles of calcium hydroxide and/or magnesium hydroxide, use of the filler in synthetic resin and a shaped article made therefrom. The filler is obtained by incorporating particles of the hydrotalcite compound into the particles of calcium hydroxide and/or magnesium hydroxide such that their ratio ranges from 3:7 to 6:4, wherein the particles of the hydrotalcite compound have the formula (1): [(Mg²⁺)_y(M₁ ²⁺)_(1-y)]_1-xM³⁺ _x(OH)₂CO₃ ^2- _x/2•mH₂O, where M₁ ²⁺ is a divalent metal, M³⁺ is at least one trivalent metal and x, y and m denote numerical values which satisfy the relationships 0<x<0.5; 0≤m<2 and 0<y≤1.
