SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a classifying device for identifying commodities at an automatic point-of-sale terminal. A classifying device for identifying commodities at an automatic point-of-sale terminal comprises a storage unit capable of storing digital reference signatures, each corresponding to a commodity name, a processor connected to said storage unit, and at least one spectroscopic sensor configured to determine a measured commodity signature, wherein said processor is configured to compare said measured signature with digital reference signatures and calculate the probability of matching a predetermined number of commodity names.
EFFECT: simple classification process.
