FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to uranium inorganic chemistry, particularly to the technology of producing uranium tetrafluoride. A method of producing uranium tetrafluoride comprises precipitation thereof from solutions containing a chloride-fluoride complex of U+4 using hydrofluoric acid, at process temperature of 70-80°C, wherein the hydrofluoric acid used contains tetravalent uranium in an amount which is not greater than the solubility thereof.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a coarse-crystalline, well-filterable uranium tetrafluoride precipitate and prevents formation of local oversaturations.
