FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: two-mode counter-propeller in three mounting options comprises the hub with movable blades and pitch variator. The latter can be located between screw propeller and ship rudder. Said pitch variator can, additionally, turn the blades through their feathering position and set their pitch for operation of counter-propeller for ship reversal with change in direction of counter-propeller rotation. Pitch of the blades for the third mounting position to reverse the counter-propeller thrust without the change in its rotational direction is selected by the turn of blades through their feathering position. Leading edge of every blade becomes the trailing edge while section and pressure surfaces of every blade retain their position relative to oncoming flow.
EFFECT: higher hydrodynamic efficiency, maximum thrust in push option.
