FIELD: shipbuilding; control of variable-pitch propellers. SUBSTANCE: one blade of variable-pitch propeller, when sailing for example, is set in plane passing through its axis; hub is disengaged from propeller shaft, thus providing for its trailing on propeller shaft. Blade mounted in plane passing through axis of propeller is turned by pressure surfaces towards each other at definite angles to transverse plane of propeller. Angles may be equal in magnitude but reverse in sign. EFFECT: reduction of resistance to motion of ship and obtaining thrust through employment of sea wave energy. 5 dwg
