FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: scattering anisotropy-based light-polarising element comprises a monoaxial extension-oriented polymer film having tangential adhesion, with nematic liquid crystal droplets encapsulated therein, said droplets having an elongated ellipsoidal shape with a long axis parallel to the stretching direction of the film. Components for the "polymer - nematic liquid crystal" composition are selected such that n=np .As the liquid crystal a mixture of a nematic liquid crystal with a surfactant is used which initiates homeotropic and inclined adhesion of the nematic liquid crystal with the polymer. Uniform director ordering along the extension direction of the composite film is formed in the nematic liquid crystal droplets.

EFFECT: high transmission coefficient of composite polymer-nematic films for directly transmitted radiation, which is polarised perpendicular to the extension direction of said films.
