SUBSTANCE: device for compensation of reactive power comprises voltage transformer, load represented by reversible converter of the locomotive with traction engine switched to it, reactive power source with in-series capacitor and inductance coil, compensator current sensor and inverter, the preset current evaluator, comparison element, control unit for reactive power source. the preset current evaluator comprises phase-locked system, valuators of the main, third and fifth current harmonics, summator, the first and second multipliers wherein output of the phase-locked system is coupled directly to the second input of the main current harmonic valuator and respectively through the first and second multipliers to second inputs of the third current harmonic valuator and the fifth current harmonic valuator, which inputs are coupled to the respective inputs of the summator. Primary winding of the voltage transformer is coupled to the mains, its secondary winding through current sensor is coupled in parallel to switched load and reactive power source, voltage sensor is connected in parallel to secondary winding of the voltage transformer, which output is coupled to input of the phase-locked system. The summator output is connected to the first input of comparison element, output of the reactive power source is connected to its second input while output of the comparison element through control unit is connected to the third input of the reactive power source.

EFFECT: increase in power factor due to improvement in harmonicity of the locomotive primary current.
