FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns metallurgy field and can be used for the blast furnace hearth. The hearth contains wall lining and base lining made out of the refractory material to install bath with melted metal. The base lining has bottom area containing the carbon refractory layer, and top area containing layer of ceramic elements located to coat the bottom area. The top area ceramic elements are made out of microporous ceramic material comprising granular phase, made out of silicon-aluminous granular material with high content of alumina, and binding phase to bind grains of the granular material, at that the microporous ceramic material has thermal conductivity below 7 W/m*K, preferably below 5 W/m*K, and permeability ≤2 nanoperm, and average width of pores ≤2 mcm. Invention also suggests the method of ceramic elements making as microporous due to baking in nitrogen, and special arrangement of the ceramic elements in the base lining.
EFFECT: invention improves ceramic layer for the top area of the base lining, which layer has more stable protective characteristics in the bottom area.
