FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: sample and block are first brought into maximum possible thermal contact. Temperature change is measured on a non-magnetic heat-conducting block which is heat-insulated in a vacuum. The magnetocaloric effect per unit mass of the sample of the material in quasi-isothermal conditions is then calculated from the measurement data of change in temperature of the non-magnetic block which is heat-insulated in a vacuum, caused by change in the magnetic field. The disclosed method is carried out using a device which includes a magnetic field source, in which there is a vacuum chamber, in which there is a measuring insert having heat-insulated block of non-magnetic heat-conducting material and analysed sample, as well as a temperature sensor.
EFFECT: high accuracy of obtained data.
