FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method is proposed to detect antioxidant activity of a substance, providing for preparation of reference samples containing a buffer solution and a bioluminescent sensor, detection of initial intensity of bioluminescence. Investigated substance is added into some reference samples to produce working samples. Volumes of reference and working samples are balanced. Intensity of bioluminescence of reference and working samples after their incubation is detected to determine toxicity of investigated substance. Oxidant is added into reference and working samples, and bioluminescence intensity of reference and working samples with oxidant is detected after their incubation to detect antioxidant activity of investigated substance.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to detect antioxidant activity of a substance with simultaneous detection of its toxicity with reduced detection time.
