FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method for precision processing of laser gyroscope signals with alternating-sign dithering, which comprises digitising primary quadrature signals which reflect interference pattern displacement, formed by opposite laser beams output from an annular laser; performing approximation with an ellipse of a plurality of points on a plane of variables corresponding to primary signal readings; and restoring the time series for phase difference variations of interfering waves (angular displacements of the annular laser) over different time intervals, wherein the sampling frequency of the primary signals is defined by the upper limit of the measured angular velocities; the frequency of updating readings of angular displacements of the annular laser is selected near the upper limit, which provides guaranteed determination of parameters of primary quadrature signals; the obtained time series of angular displacements of the annular laser is converted to angular displacements of the laser gyroscope using a digital rejection narrow-band filter with an infinite impulse response, the centre of the stop band of which corresponds to the frequency of the alternating-sign dither.
EFFECT: reduced error when measuring angular displacements in real time.
