METHOD FOR REDUCING LASER COAGULATION VOLUME IN NON-PROLIFERATIVE DIABETIC RETINOPATHY Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC A61N1/32 A61F9/08 A61B5/02

Abstract RU 2572186 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: arterial blood pressure and pulse are monitored. Carotid sinuses are exposed percutaneously to a rotating electric field. Pulse frequency, length and amplitude are specified individually for each patient so as to provide a blocking or stimulating effect on ganglia depending on a type of the tonus health of the vegetative nervous system: sympathetic tonus or vagotonia. The tonus health of the vegetative nervous system is assessed pre-therapeutically by monitoring arterial blood pressure and pulse with calculating Kerdo index. The following exposure parameters are applied: a position of current vector is continuously changed at a frequency within the range of 55-65 Hz; a length is 150-300 mcm, and an amplitude is 30-35 mA, whereas the number of pulses in a package is 12, and a pulse shape is square. A procedure length is 15 minutes. The procedure starts with the 5-minute exposure from one side of the neck, which is followed by a 5-minute pause and a 5-minute exposure from the other side of the neck. The procedure is performed once a day. From the seventh procedure and further, the Kerdo index is re-evaluated. When the index goes to zero, a focal laser retinal coagulation is performed in an amount of 250-300 coagulates. A power is 180-200 mW; a spot diameter is 100 mcm; a pulse length is 0.1 s until L'Esperance degree II coagulate appears.

EFFECT: method enables reducing volume and power of the laser coagulation by the fact that the laser treatment is preceded by electrical sympathic correction with the individual biotropic parameters of the rotating field in accordance with the predicted result of the vascular system imbalance.
