SUBSTANCE: disclosed method of determining acoustic wave velocity in a porous medium comprises irradiating at least two samples of a porous medium having a different length with acoustic waves excited by a source; for each sample, recording the arrival time of waves from the acoustic wave source to the receiver and determining the acoustic wave velocity based on the analysis of the arrival time measurements with respect to the change of the length of the samples.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining wave velocity.
