FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: prepreg contains a plurality of unidirectional aligned continuous fibres embedded in a thermoplastic matrix. In addition to the continuous fibres, the prepreg also contains a plurality of long fibres, such that the fibres are statistically distributed in the thermoplastic matrix. As a result, at least some of the long fibres become oriented at an angle relative to the direction of the continuous fibres. The long fibres can improve mechanical properties of the prepreg, primarily in the transverse direction.

EFFECT: improved physical and mechanical properties of articles.
