FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to refining of platinum-group metals. Claimed process consists in sorption of cations of rhodium (III) and ruthenium (III) on cation exchanger KU-2 from chloride solutions at controlled pH of the solutions and controlled content of chloride-ion. Extraction is carried out under hydrothermal conditions at 150°C, at low concentration of chloride-ion while control over pH is executed by acidation of nitric acid solutions. The ruthenium/rhodium separation factors made about 100. Their separation is performed at the steps of sorption or desorption. For desorption of rhodium and ruthenium and their separation from the impurities of iron, nonferrous metals and other metals the chloride-ion concentration in stripping solution is increased to 8 g/l and higher.
EFFECT: simplified process of selective extraction and separation of rhodium (III) and ruthenium (III), decreased amount of processing reagents.
