FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in reconfiguration of actual track to butt-free track, laying of track sections or at their repair by aluminium thermal welding at ambient temperature of up to minus 40°C.For protection against wind and snow, a tent of incombustible material is set above welding area. In said tent, ends of rails are subjected to local heating to positive temperature and thermal control. Local directed heating is performed by IR heaters to positive surface temperature at sealing of the mould at the area of contact with rails. Welding is executed by fusing the termite portion and filling termite metal in the gap between rail ends. The mould is thermally controlled during crystallisation and cooling of termite metal to prevent for formation of quenching structures.
EFFECT: high-quality rails welds at negative ambient temperature, power saving, reliable welding process.
