SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine. A surgical instrument comprises a rod and end clamp. The end clamp comprises a first branch and second branch. The first branch is movable in relation to the second branch between an open position and close position. The surgical instrument comprises a closing unit configured contacting the first branch. The closing unit comprises a closing release mechanism and a damping system. The closing release mechanism is configured shifted from the first into second position to close the first branch. The damping system is configured to slow down an opening of the closing release mechanism and has a packing element configured to form a tight seal of the fluid. The surgical instrument is easy to use and eliminates injuries of tissues surrounding the end clamp.
