SUBSTANCE: overvoltage protection device (5) has arrester (1), which is supposed to ensure balancing of different potential and to lock overload current during operation. The arrester (1) has sensor (2) that generates electric disconnection signal (4) and comprises Wheatstone bridge. With regard to the arrester peripheral switching unit (3) receives electric disconnection signal (4) and disconnects the arrester (1) from electric circuit. At that switching unit (3) and arrester (1) are spaced from each other.
EFFECT: immediate disconnection of the heated arrester is ensured from the mains without arc generation at the switching element, which switching process is initiated only electrically.
