FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes fractionation purification of vanadium oxytrichloride to titanium impurity content of 0.002-0.005 wt %. Purified vanadium oxytrichloride is then fed into a sealed reactor filled with argon to residual pressure of 9.6-29.4 kPa. Hydrochloric acid solution is added with the ratio of hydrochloric acid to vanadium oxytrichloride of 1:(15-25). Further, the precipitate is settled and separated. The clarified part undergoes fractionation purification again to obtain especially pure vanadium oxytrichloride, which is treated with an alkaline solution to obtain sodium metavanadate, from which the precipitate is separated, a solid ammonium-containing inorganic compound is added to obtain ammonium metavanadate pulp. The pulp is stirred and ammonium metavanadate precipitate is separated from the mother solution. The precipitate is washed, dried and calcined to obtain especially pure vanadium pentoxide.
EFFECT: reduced impurities in the end product - especially pure vanadium pentoxide.
